Startec Industries Named Official Hyundai WIA Dealer in Ukraine: CNC Solutions & Services
Startec Industries has become an official dealer of Hyundai WIA a South Korean manufacturer of CNC machining centers whose equipment is deployed in automotive, aerospace, and medical device manufacturing facilities worldwide. This technology is designed for environments where repeatable precision matters more than single-run accuracy, and where scrap costs exceed the cost of machining itself.
Ukrainian industrial enterprises can now procure Hyundai WIA turning and milling centers directly through Startec Industries, complete with custom engineering evaluation, commissioning, operator training, and lifetime service support.
Key Highlights of This Partnership
Hyundai WIA manufactures industrial-grade equipment designed for continuous operations. At the same time, the brand has historically had far less presence in Ukraine than its quality merits. Because of this, the manufacturer is currently offering highly competitive commercial terms rarely seen for machinery of this caliber.
About Hyundai WIA
The company’s machine tool manufacturing history dates back to 1976—representing nearly fifty years of continuous production in metalworking equipment. Its primary manufacturing hub is located in Changwon, the industrial capital of South Korean engineering. The lineup includes over one hundred models of CNC machines.

The scale of the brand is underscored by a key fact: the South Korean CNC machine tool market is essentially split between two major manufacturers, with Hyundai WIA being one of them. According to Statista data for 2024, the company accounted for approximately a quarter of the domestic Korean market a country that ranks among the top machine tool manufacturing centers globally.
Outside Korea, the company operates through dedicated regional divisions: North American, Asian, and European located in Rüsselsheim near Frankfurt. It was there that the XF2000 5-axis machining center was engineered. The machine won first place in the milling equipment category at the MM Award during EMO 2017 in Hanover, a competition hosted by the German Machine Tool Builders' Association (VDW) and MaschinenMarkt magazine. Hyundai WIA became the first South Korean manufacturer in history to receive this award.
The Rüsselsheim facility also houses a central spare parts warehouse. Components reach Ukraine from Germany in a matter of days, avoiding months-long sea freight from another continent. For an enterprise whose machine tool sits directly in the production chain, this is a critical aspect of operational reliability.
Under the Hood
Hyundai WIA machines were engineered for automotive plants: 24/7 operation, tens of thousands of parts of a single SKU, and tolerances within hundredths of a millimeter that must hold for years rather than months.
This is reflected in the machine architecture: Meehanite cast-iron beds, box guideways where high rigidity and vibration damping are required (with options on select models between box and roller guideways for specific tasks), pre-tensioned double-anchored ball screws, oil-chilled spindles, and optical scales standard on high-precision models.

Control systems feature Fanuc and Siemens platforms, with Heidenhain available on select models. Engineers with experience on any modern CNC system can start working immediately without undergoing retraining or dealing with proprietary CNC controls. The hardware is paired with proprietary software: Smart Guide-i conversational programming and the MMS fleet monitoring system (available in both cloud and local versions).
On the shop floor, this translates to consistent tolerances across entire batches, target surface finishes achieved on the first pass, and near-zero scrap rates or rework. The difference between Hyundai WIA and budget machinery is not seen during initial acceptance—both machines will display factory specification precision on brand-new tooling. The real difference becomes evident during the second year of heavy production, when budget machines lose geometry while Hyundai WIA holds it.

What Changed in 2025
In the summer of 2025, Hyundai WIA’s machine tool division was spun off into an independent company. The Changwon manufacturing plant, the engineering team, and the product lineup remain unchanged.
What did change is focus. Previously, machine tools represented a minor non-core division within a massive auto-component conglomerate accounting for a small percentage of revenue and constantly competing for attention and capital allocation. Today, it constitutes the core business: operating with its own board of directors and a mandate for growth and investment across R&D, dealer networks, and service infrastructure.
For equipment buyers, the practical difference is significant: a division that was previously secondary is now primary. This shift enabled commercial discussions with the manufacturer that would have been impossible a few years ago.
Why the Brand Was Previously Undervalued in Ukraine
Hyundai WIA is not new to Ukraine. Its equipment has operated in local facilities for years, earning positive feedback from operators and engineers. The core issue was never the hardware.
The issue stemmed from machine tool market dynamics. Manufacturers focus resources where they prioritize market share—typically concentrating on a few large markets at a time. Ukraine was not initially on that priority list, which represents standard commercial logic for a minor division within a large conglomerate.
Market inertia did the rest. Equipment selection in manufacturing is conservative: companies purchase what is already in their shop, what their operators know, and what has established local service coverage. A brand starting at a market disadvantage tends to remain behind, regardless of its underlying technical performance. This resulted in a scenario common to strong brands: excellent hardware combined with limited local presence.
A manufacturing engineer who would have selected Hyundai WIA based purely on technical specifications chose alternatives instead—and rightly so. Machines are not purchased from catalogs alone, but based on local support infrastructure: engineering calculations for specific parts, accessible field engineers, and reliable local spare parts supply.
An abnormally large gap formed between the brand's global standing and its local market footprint. Closing this gap is the primary objective behind our direct dealership.
Our Role
The machinery is manufactured in South Korea. Everything that happens following its arrival in Ukraine is handled by the Startec Industries team.
- Machine Selection: For customers requiring specific engineering evaluations rather than standard catalog picks, we accept drawings and planned production volumes to calculate cycle times, tooling, load factors, and ROI. Calculations precede configuration selection.
- Cell Design: For new production lines or facility relocations, we evaluate the entire production cell: determining actual machine requirements, part flow logistics, and potential bottlenecks ahead of scaling.
- Delivery & Commissioning: Handling logistics, customs clearance, installation, leveling, and factory geometry verification protocols through to producing the first finished part in your presence. All work is executed by our in-house engineers.
- Training: On-site operator and engineering training conducted in your facility using your initial production parts.
- Service: In-house service team with mobile field units operating across Ukraine for scheduled maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs.
- Spare Parts: Direct access to Hyundai WIA’s European central warehouse.
In addition, unlike typical equipment distributors, we operate our own metalworking facilities. We operate machinery daily and speak the same technical language as your engineering team.
Why Now
A manufacturer expanding its market share views initial regional projects differently than an established dominant player. The primary objective is establishing operational installations in Ukrainian manufacturing facilities and creating reference sites rather than maximizing immediate margins. This creates advantageous commercial conditions that are typically unavailable for equipment in this class.
Purchasing a CNC machine tool begins with your part, not a catalog. Submit your engineering drawings and targeted production volumes. Startec Industries engineers will calculate cycle times and unit processing costs, select the optimal Hyundai WIA model for your requirements, and prepare a formal commercial offer.
