Industrial Bandsaw Solution for Nuclear Decommissioning
The disposal and processing of materials at nuclear power plants is one of the most complex and at the same time most responsible areas of the production process. It concerns not only the safety of personnel and the environment but also the efficiency of the entire energy sector. Massive metal structures that have reached the end of their service life require precise and reliable cutting prior to further processing. Conventional tools cannot handle such dimensions, so the use of specialized equipment becomes critically important.
This is where large-scale bandsaw machines come to the forefront. They allow for fast and safe cutting of massive metal workpieces, reducing the amount of manual labor while increasing process control. For the nuclear energy sector, it is essential that equipment combines high precision, durability, and reliability.
The Startec Holding team implemented a unique project for Ukraine: they supplied and commissioned one of the largest bandsaw machines in the country — the LIVA LSY 1100x2200 manufactured by the Turkish company LİVAMAK MAKİNA SANAYİ VE TİCARET LİMİTED ŞİRKETİ. Its main feature is an impressive vise opening of 2200 mm, allowing efficient processing of oversized structures.
The bandsaw machine was delivered with motorized roller conveyors for automatic feeding of workpieces. This significantly speeds up the metal-cutting process and minimizes the operator’s manual labor, increasing overall production efficiency.
The machine has already been installed and is in operation at the SE “NNEGC Energoatom” facility. After installation, the Startec Holding team trained the personnel so that specialists could immediately operate the equipment with maximum efficiency.
This project is of strategic importance: the introduction of such solutions not only optimizes the disposal process but also makes it safer and more modern.
